Wooden decking is an increasingly popular choice for providing outdoor seating areas in gardens. Due to the natural beauty of wood, they can be very beautiful spaces that can be used year round by installing additional heating and light. Wooden decking is usually fitted in locations in front of patio or French doors where they can create a seamless transition between inside and outside spaces. Wooden decking is available in any size or shape to suit any area. Curved designs or large areas linked by pathways can create a striking effect. Wooden decking is fairly simple to install and causes minimal disruption, particularly when compared to alternatives like patio or paving. It can even be installed over the top of an existing patio. It is important however to make sure that your wooden decking is structurally sound and able to take the weight of any furniture or plants that you want to use on the decking. There is a choice of varieties of wood that can be used in wooden decking. Commonly decking is constructed from hardwood, but there are softwoods available that fulfil the durability requirements. As hardwood decking will require maintenance, which generally involves annual cleaning and staining for weather proofing, composite woods have become popular for use in wooden decking as they are more robust and require far less maintenance.

Laurencekirk is a small town in the historical county of Kincardineshire, Scotland, just off the A90 Dundee to Aberdeen main road, which bypassed it in 1985. It is administered as part of Aberdeenshire. It is the biggest settlement in the Howe o’ the Mearns area and houses the regional senior high school; Mearns Academy, which was granted the Charter Mark in 2003. Its old name was Conveth, an anglification of the Gaelic Coinmheadh, referring to a commitment to provide complimentary food and also board to passing soldiers. Laurencekirk is in the valley between the Hill of Garvock and the Cairn O’ Mount. The popular site of the Johnston Tower can be seen on the optimal of the Garvock. Laurencekirk was, in the past, known for making snuff boxes with an unique kind of impermeable hinge (known as a “Laurencekirk hinge”) created by James Sandy. Laurencekirk Golf Club (now inoperative) initially showed up in the early 1900s. The club closed at the time of WW2. Lewis Grassic Gibbon composed much regarding The Mearns as well as the bordering area in his publication Sunset Song. A homage centre can be checked out at Arbuthnott a couple of miles from Laurencekirk. Fred Urquhart worked on the land at Laurencekirk in the 2nd World War, and his short stories make use of his observations of rural life here.
