Astro Turf, or artificial turf, is utilised instead of natural grass. Astro Turf is the name given to the first artificial turf that was created by Monsanto, but it quickly became a popular name for artificial turf generally.
Astro turf is made up of synthetic fibres with a mix of sand and recycled rubber granules as infills. It’s employed broadly in sports applications, like on football and rugby pitches, tennis courts and even golf courses.
There are a developing number of industrial applications for astro turf, including workplace buildings, concerts and festivals and department stores.
