While its importance as an aspect of garden design is sometimes neglected, fencing is an integral part of both the appearance and useability of your garden. Garden fencing tends to differ between the front and rear of properties, with higher and more solid wood fencing commonly being used in the rear garden, while the front of the house generally features smaller and more ornamental fencing. Fencing for the front of the home tends to have a low height and large gaps between the wooden slats. It is also often painted to improve its ornamental effect.
Fencing in the back garden is often used for privacy and to preserve the boundaries of a garden, as well as to keep pets or other small animals or wildlife either in or out. For this reason, these kinds of fences are about 6 feet high and use wooden slats with no gaps in between. Due to the increased height, these fences generally have concrete footings laid between each section to provide strength and stop the fence from blowing over or being ruined in poor weather.
Garden fencing panels are generally made of wood. The posts in between the sections are manufactured from either timber, stone, or concrete. Recently, fence panels have started to be made from heavily recycled and sustainable composite materials such as recycled bamboo.

In accordance with the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent population of 12634 residing in the 6.67 square miles. North Walsham is set 7.5 miles south of Cromer and 7.5 miles north of Wroxham. The town is served by North Walsham railway station, permitting fast access to Norwich, Cromer and Sheringham. The town lies on the B1145, which is a road running between King’s Lynn and Mundesley. It started to progress from the 12th century because of the arrival of weavers from Flanders. The name of the town originates from the textiles produced by the weavers. ‘Walsham’ related to a light-weight fabric for summertime clothes. The large 14th-century ‘wool churches’ are stunning confirmations of the success of the local mill owners. North Walsham’s church of St. Nicholas is one of the UK’s biggest parish churches, alongside having the 2nd tallest steeple in Norfolk till its collapse in 1724. Its ruins are a prominent feature of the town centre and it is now a recognised landmark of the region. The North Walsham and Dilham Canal, owned by the North Walsham Canal Company, ran from Antingham Mill to a point before Honing, which followed the course of the River Ant. The town has been home to a number of movie theatres over the 20th century. North Walsham Picturedrom was open between 1912 and 1931, the Regal Cinema between 1931 and 1979, and the present cinema, the Atrium, opened in 2011.
