Landscaping is a term that means changing the visible features of land, and can as a result involve a variety of gardening tasks, from simple DIY projects to full scale design and build landscaping services. Landscaping is normally split into two distinct areas. Soft landscaping refers to modifications to plants, trees and shrubs, as well as laying turf. Hard landscaping is used to group alterations to terrain such as the installation of patios, walls, fences, decking, driveways, or artificial grass. Landscaping will also include maintenance jobs such as mowing and strimming lawns, trimming hedges and bushes and pruning trees, although these activities are typically performed along with larger scale adjustments to the garden itself.
Professional landscaping experts will conduct a survey of your garden and advise you on the ideal transformations to maximise the use of your space. If you have always wanted a patio, sleeper beds for planting or a water fountain, a landscape company will undertake the design and build of these elements. In addition, many landscaping companies also offer an aftercare service, where they will carry out routine upkeep on your garden to ensure its new features stay in perfect condition. Landscaping works can make your garden and the other areas around your house such as your driveway a really useful and elegant space that you can enjoy for many years to come.

Helmsdale is a village on the east coast of Sutherland, in the Highland council area of Scotland. The village is on the A9 road, at a junction with the A897, and has a railway station on the Far North Line. Buses operate about every two hours Mondays-Saturdays and occasionally on Sundays from Helmsdale to Brora, Golspie, Dornoch, Tain and Inverness in the south and Berriedale, Dunbeath, Halkirk, Thurso and Scrabster in the north. West Helmsdale lies on the river from the main village above the railway station. Old Helmsdale is directly to the north while East Helmsdale is a settlement no more than a mile to the east.
