Stump grinding is the process in which the stump of a felled tree is removed. Commonly during tree felling a few inches of the trunk and the root structure are left in the ground, making the nearby space impractical to use and also potentially appealing to pests or harbouring tree diseases like honey fungus. If your garden has stumps in the ground, taking them out can open up the location, providing you with extra space to expand your lawn size or create new areas to install patio or decking.
Professional stump grinding businesses can extract stumps of any scale. The technique commonly consists of trimming the stump as close to the ground as possible by using a chainsaw, and then using specialist stump grinding machinery to grind away at the stump. Stumps are ground down to about 10-12 inches below the dirt surface to allow planting, although sometimes landscaping projects may require the stump to be ground deeper than this. The wood chipping that is created by the stump grinding can be either infilled back into the hole and used as compost for other areas of your garden, or the stump grinding company could remove it and dispose of it in an eco-friendly way. Additionally, numerous skilled stump grinding companies provide specialist narrow equipment that can be used if there is limited access to your garden for example, via a side alley.
