Stump grinding describes the procedure where the stump of a tree that has been previously felled is cleared away. Typically during tree felling a few inches of the trunk and the root structure are left behind in the ground, making the surrounding space unusable together with potentially appealing to insect pests or harbouring tree diseases like honey fungus. If your back garden has stumps in the soil, having them removed could clear the garden, offering more space which you could use to increase your lawn area or produce fresh spaces to lay patio or decking.
Expert stump grinding firms can clear away stumps of any size. The method ordinarily demands slicing the stump as close to the ground as possible using a chainsaw, and afterwards making use of specialised stump grinding devices to grind away the stump. Stumps are ground down to around 10-12 inches under the soil surface to permit replanting, although sometimes landscaping projects might need the stump to be ground deeper than this. The wood chippings that are produced by the stump grinding could be either infilled back into the hole and used as mulch in other areas of your garden, or the stump grinding company could remove it for you and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way. Furthermore, many experienced stump grinding companies have specialist small equipment that could be employed if there is restricted access to your garden such as via a side passageway.

Henley-on-Thames is a town and civil parish on the River Thames in the English county of Oxfordshire. It lies about 7 miles (11 kilometres) northeast of Reading and 7 miles west of Maidenhead. One of its limits has the tripoint of Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. It covers an area of around 2.15 square miles. According to the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent population of around 11619 people. The first record of Henley is from 1179, when it is documented that King Henry II ‘had actually purchased land for the construction of buildings’. King John bestowed the manor of Benson and the town and manor of Henley to Robert Harcourt in 1199. The existing Thursday market, it is regarded, was granted by a charter of King John. A market was undoubtedly in existence by 1269, even though the jurors of the assize of 1284 claimed to not know by what warrant the earl of Cornwall held a market and fair in the town of Henley. The existing Corpus Christi fair was granted by a charter of Henry VI. Henley is a world-renowned centre for rowing. Each summer, the yearly Henley Royal Regatta is hosted on Henley Reach, which is a naturally straight area of the river just north of the town. It was extended synthetically. The gathering became ‘Royal’ in 1851, when Prince Albert came to be patron of the regatta. The River and Rowing Museum, situated in Mill Meadows, is the town’s one museum. It was founded in 1998, and officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II. The museum, developed by the designer David Chipperfield, presents information on the River Thames, the sport of rowing, and the town of Henley itself.
