Wooden decking is an increasingly common option for providing outdoor seating areas in gardens. Because of the natural beauty of wood, they can be very elegant spaces which can be used year round by using additional heating and lighting. Wooden decking is frequently fitted in locations in front of patio or French doors where they can create a smooth transition between interior and exterior spaces. Wooden decking is available in any size or shape to accommodate any area. Curved designs or large areas connected by pathways can create a stunning effect.
Wooden decking is relatively simple to install and causes minimal disruption, especially when compared to alternatives like patio or paving. It can even be installed over the top of a pre-existing patio. It is essential however to make certain that your wooden decking is structurally sound and able to take the load of any furniture or plants that you want to use on the decking.
There is a array of types of wood that can be used in wooden decking. Often decking is constructed from hardwood, but there are softwoods available that fulfil the durability specifications. As hardwood decking will need maintenance, which generally entails yearly cleaning and staining for weather proofing, composite woods have become more popular for use in wooden decking because they are stronger and require far less maintenance.

The London Borough of Merton is a borough in south-west London, England. The borough was formed under the London Government Act 1963 in 1965 by the merger of the Municipal Borough of Mitcham, the Municipal Borough of Wimbledon along with the Merton and Morden Urban District, all formerly inside Surrey. The borough derives its name from the historic parish of Merton, which was centred around the location now referred to as South Wimbledon. The local authority is Merton London Borough Council.
As outlined by population estimates made in the middle of 2014, the borough features a permanent population of around 203515 inhabitants. Merton is served by a wide selection of National Rail stations across the borough, plus the southern tip of the London Underground’s Northern line plus the District line around the Wimbledon branch. It is the only London Borough which has tube, rail and tram services.
The main industrial centres in Merton are Mitcham, Morden and Wimbledon, of which Wimbledon is the largest. Other smaller centres include Raynes Park, Colliers Wood, South Wimbledon, Wimbledon Park and Pollards Hill. Each year, Wimbledon, one of the 4 tennis Grand Slam tournaments, is held at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Church Road Wimbledon. The event occurs over a fortnight at the end of June and beginning of July and it’s the biggest annual sporting occasion to take place in the UK, attracting more than 200000 visitors throughout the Wimbledon fortnight.
