Kirriemuir, sometimes called Kirrie, is a burgh in Angus, Scotland. Its history reaches back to earliest recorded times, when it is believed to have been a significant clerical centre. Later on it was related to witchcraft, and also some older houses still include a “witches stane” to ward off wicked. In the 19th century, it was an important centre of the jute profession.
