Astro Turf, or artificial turf, is utilised in place of natural grass. Astro Turf is the name given to the first artificial turf that was developed by Monsanto, but it quickly became a common name for artificial turf generally.
Astro turf consists of synthetic fibres with a combination of sand and recycled rubber granules as infills. It’s applied widely in sports applications, including on football and rugby pitches, tennis courts as well as golf courses.
There are a growing variety of industrial applications for astro turf, like office buildings, concerts and festivals and department stores.
