Although its significance as an aspect of garden design is sometimes disregarded, fencing is a key part of both the appearance and functionality of your garden. Garden fencing will differ between the front and rear of properties, with taller and more solid wooden fencing commonly being installed in the rear garden, while the front of the house usually employs more compact and more decorative fencing. Fencing for the front of the home tends to have a low height and large spaces between the wooden slats. Additionally, it is often coloured to improve its ornamental effect. Fencing in the back garden is often used for privacy and to preserve the boundaries of a garden, as well as to keep household pets or other small animals or wildlife either in or out. For this reason, these styles of fences are about 6 feet high and use wooden slats with no spaces in between. Because of the added height, these fences often have concrete footings laid between each panel to provide security and prevent the fence from blowing over or being destroyed in poor weather. Garden fencing panels are generally made of wood. The posts in between the sections are manufactured from either wood, stone, or concrete. More recently, fence panels have started to be manufactured from heavily recycled and sustainable composite materials such as recycled bamboo.

Kenley is a district in the south of the London Borough of Croydon (in the past in Surrey). Kenley is located 13 miles south of Charing Cross. Significant portions of Kenley lie within the Metropolitan Green Belt. Specifically, the south of Kenley is dominated by the open green spaces of Kenley Common and Kenley Aerodrome. The 2011 census showed Kenley having a population of 14,966. For centuries, Kenley became part of Coulsdon Manor which covered the entire area and was predominantly farm land, with a few big homes and their estates. The formal opening of the railway on 4 August 1856 transformed Kenley. The new railway prompted urban progression. By the end of the Victorian era, Kenley had acquired its own identity. Kenley Common constitutes fifty-six hectares of green open space surrounding a former Battle of Britain airfield. It is a mix of chalk grassland and ancient forest set among gently rolling hills. Blessed with great views across the Caterham valley and the North Downs beyond, visitors find it hard to think that the centre of London is only 14 miles to the north. Among Kenley’s landmark buildings is the Memorial Hall. It was opened in 1922 to pay tribute to those who gave their lives in World War I. It was eventually extended and re-opened by Group Captain Douglas Bader in 1975. Hammond Innes’ book Attack Alarm was based on his experiences as a Royal Artillery anti-aircraft gunner at RAF Kenley amid the Battle of Britain. It includes graphic descriptions of the station and attacks on it in 1940. English Heritage defined Kenley as the “most complete fighter airfield associated with the Battle of Britain to have survived”. For all your home improvements, make certain to find dependable contractors in Kenley to make certain of quality.
