Patios continue to be an extremely common way of creating functional outdoor spaces which you can use for socialising, dining, or simply to enhance the beauty of your garden. Patios are built from block or slab paving and are available in an enormous range of colours, patterns and designs. Patios can be laid in either random course patterns where the pattern is varied, or in repeating patterns which have a consistent effect. Patios are extremely durable and need minimal maintenance, only occasional cleaning to protect the natural beauty of the stone. Patios are typically installed in locations where patio or French doors can open directly out onto them as this creates a smooth transition between the inside and outside spaces. Patios come in a huge range of colours and types of stone. Consider introducing a different colour and type of stone to either inlay a fashionable design or as edging to complement the shape of your patio. It is vital to consider the use of your patio when planning it and measure accurately to ensure that any furniture will fit the intended space. Professional patio and paving companies will be able to design you a patio that perfectly fulfills your needs and creates an outdoor area that is useful as well as beautiful.

The village of Ballachulish in Lochaber, Highland, Scotland, is centred on previous slate quarries. The name Ballachulish (Ballecheles, 1522– Straits community,) was more correctly related to the location now called North Ballachulish, to the north of Loch Leven, however was taken over for the quarry villages at East Laroch and West Laroch, either side of the River Laroch, which were in fact within Glencoe and also South Ballachulish respectively. The principal sector is currently tourist, although a lot of visitors pass promptly by the village itself. The name Ballachulish (from Scottish Gaelic, Baile a’ Chaolais) means “the Village by the Narrows”. The narrows concerned is Caolas Mhic Phàdraig – Peter or Patrick’s boy’s narrows, at the mouth of Loch Leven. As there was no roadway to the head of Loch Leven until 1927, the Ballachulish Ferry, developed in 1733, and also those at Invercoe/Callert and Caolas na Con were necessary. The Ballachulish ferryboat enclosed December 1975 when the Ballachulish Bridge ultimately opened. The Ballachulish Hotel as well as Ballachulish House (until just recently a lodge hotel) lie near the narrows at (south) Ballachulish Ferry as opposed to in the “modern-day” village some 3 miles (5 km) eastern. Ballachulish House was understood to be haunted, and the drive leading to it was ridden by a brainless horseman. The hamlet of Glenachulish hinge on Gleann a’ Chaolais, the glen that runs down to the narrows. This is the subject of the Gaelic tune, Gleann Bhaile Chaoil created by John Cameron (1865– 1951) as well as known in your area both as the Paisley Bard and also by his local label Iain Cealaidh. He is commonly confused with an additional neighborhood poet likewise called John Cameron, known in your area as Iain Rob (1822– 1898). Gleann a’ Chaolais is ringed by Beinn a’ Bheithir, a massif which has 2 munros – Sgorr Dhearg and also Sgorr Dhonuill. Recently a variety of new houses have been built in your area in addition to holiday cabins as well as an art gallery. Also the fields of Gleann a’ Chaolais have been developed into the 9-hole Dragon’s Tooth golf links. Neglecting the narrows is the monolith to James of the Glen, “held on this spot for a criminal offense of which he was blameless”. Robert Louis Stevenson based his novel Kidnapped around the tale of the Appin Murder. Whoever did kill The Red Fox (Campbell of Glenure) is still not known.
