Patios continue to be an extremely widely used way of creating practical outdoor spaces which you can use for socialising, dining, or simply to enhance the attractiveness of your garden. Patios are built from block or slab paving and can come in an enormous array of colours, patterns and designs. Patios can be laid in either random course patterns where the pattern is varied, or in repeating patterns which have a consistent effect. Patios are extremely hard wearing and need hardly any maintenance, only infrequent cleaning to retain the natural beauty of the stone. Patios are typically installed in locations where patio or French doors can open directly out onto them as this causes a seamless transition between the inside and outside spaces. Patios come in a huge selection of colours and types of stone. Give some thought to including a different colour and type of stone to either inlay an elegant design or as edging to emphasise the shape of your patio. It is crucial to consider the use of your patio when designing it and measure precisely to be sure that any furniture fits the intended space. Professional patio and paving companies can design you a patio that perfectly meets your preferences and creates an outdoor area that is functional as well as beautiful.

Roslin (previously spelt Rosslyn or Roslyn) is a town in Midlothian, Scotland, 7 miles (11 km) to the south of the capital city Edinburgh. It depends on high ground, near the northwest bank of the river North Esk. Tale has it the village was founded in 203 A.D. by Asterius, a Pict. In 1303 Roslin was the site of a battle of the First Battle of Scottish Independence. In 1446, Rosslyn Church was created, under the overview of William Sinclair, 1st Earl of Caithness. Roslin came to be crucial as the seat of the St Clair (or Sinclair) family members. In 1456 King James II gave it the condition of a burgh. Coal mining has actually been a significant occupation from the twelfth to the late twentieth centuries. From the 19th century forward, the tourist attractions of the Glen, Castle and Church developed Roslin as a popular tourist location. Noteworthy site visitors included J. M. W. Turner, William Wordsworth (who wrote a poem in the church whilst running away a tornado) as well as his sis Dorothy, that created “‘I never went through a more scrumptious dell than the glen of Rosslyn”. William Morris went to in March 1887, keeping in mind in his Socialist Diary that Roslin was “an attractive glen-ny landscape much spoiled, by the torment of Scotch building and a manufactory or two.” On the north-western side of the village used to be Roslin Institute, an organic research facility, where in 1996 Dolly the lamb became the first animal to be duplicated from an adult somatic cell. It relocated to Easter Bush in 2011.
