Patios continue to be a very common way of creating practical outdoor spaces which can be used for socialising, dining, or simply to enhance the beauty of your garden. Patios are constructed from block or slab paving and can come in a large array of colours, patterns and designs. Patios can be laid in either random course patterns where the pattern is varied, or in repeating patterns which have a consistent effect. Patios are extremely durable and need very little maintenance, only occasional cleaning to protect the natural beauty of the stone. Patios are typically installed in locations where patio or French doors can open directly out onto them as this creates a seamless transition between the inside and outside spaces. Patios come in a huge variety of colours and types of stone. Give some thought to introducing a different colour and type of stone to either inlay an elegant design or as edging to accentuate the shape of your patio. It is essential to consider the use of your patio when planning it and measure precisely to be sure that any furniture will fit the intended space. Specialist patio and paving companies will be able to design you a patio that perfectly satisfies your needs and creates an outdoor area that is functional as well as beautiful.

Dalkeith is a town in Midlothian, Scotland, on the River Esk. It was bestowed a burgh of barony in 1401 and a burgh of regality in 1540. The settlement of Dalkeith spread out south-westwards from its 12th-century castle, which is known today as Dalkeith Palace. With reference to the 2011 Census, Dalkeith has a permanent population of around 12342 people. The town is made up of 4 different parts: Dalkeith proper with its town centre and cultural core, with Eskbank to its west and Woodburn to its east. Eskbank is the prosperous district of Dalkeith with several sizeable Victorian and newer homes. To the south of Eskbank is Newbattle with its abbey. Woodburn is a largely working class council estate. The building on High Street of Dalkeith, now described as the Tolbooth, began to be utilized as a tolbooth for the administration of the town in the early 18th century. The plaque above the door checks out ‘1648’ however this was taken from another structure and does not represent when the Tolbooth was built. Operating largely as a place for law and order, it included a prison in the west half, a court room on the east, and a dungeon understood as the ‘black hole’ below ground. In front of the building there is a circle of stones to highlight the spot where the last public hanging in Dalkeith took place in 1827. The town is also the home of other prominent buildings, such as a Watch Tower at the cemetery, a water tower and a variety of iron mills dating back to the early 19th century.
