Get Tillicoultry pros
Tillicoultry (population 5,900) is a community in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. Tillicoultry is usually described as Tilly by the citizens. Among the Hillfoots Villages on the A91, which ranges from Stirling to St. Andrews, Tillicoultry is situated at the southerly base of the Ochil Hills, which supply a spectacular backdrop. The River Devon exists to the south. The river also runs through neighbouring towns Dollar and Alva to the eastern and west respectively. The former mining town of Coalsnaughton exists just south, whilst Alloa lies 4 mi southwest. The “hill” described in the first etymology is most likely to be Kirkhill, at the eastern of the community. The alternative Latin etymology, Tellus culta, the grown land, recommended by Rev. William Osborne, priest of the parish from 1773 to 1794, is likewise possible. Nevertheless, as both etymologies might just as be applied to a hundred places in Scotland, both are suspect, as neither define the community in a distinct way.
