Tree felling can be performed for various reasons. Trees that are diseased or weakened and not able to recover might need to be felled to be certain that they do not fall on their own and cause damage or harm to property. Similarly, if trees are harmed by inclement weather or other factors and have partially fallen they will usually require felling to ensure that they do not cause any further damage either to properties or surrounding trees. Domestic tree felling can be carried out if a tree has grown too large or is particularly near a building and therefore likely to cause structural damage. Furthermore, trees in gardens can be felled if they are obscuring the light to a property or otherwise impacting your enjoyment of your garden. Although it can be tempting to carry out tree felling as a DIY job, it is dangerous to undertake without the proper training and planning. Professional tree felling companies can fell trees in a safe way and ensure that they do not cause any damage to property as they are felled. If the space around a tree is small, the tree can be felled in sections to limit the danger of it falling and causing destruction in the surrounding area. Tree felling companies will also remove the felled tree in a sustainable way, and could even cut up the tree into logs for use in a wood burner or stove.

Abercraf is a village in Brecknockshire in the county of Powys, Wales and has a population of 696. It is in the south of the county in the Upper Swansea Valley, 2.5 miles north-east of Ystradgynlais. It lies just outside of the boundaries of the Brecon Beacons National Park and the Fforest Fawr Geopark. Abercraf has a history in coal and iron. Thomas Harper, the local coalowner, established a small ironworks in 1824. The British Iron Company acquired the works a year later for £19,541 and leased minerals on the neighbouring mountain, Cribarth. It was unsuccessful and it ceased production in 1826 when they realised that costs were exceeding the retail price. The village has a range of amenities, including pubs, a rugby union club, a primary school and a fire station. It is also home to a Miners’ Welfare Hall, keeping the tradition of its coal mining past. Abercraf lies among the slopes of the small mountain Cribarth, which is well-known for its ‘Sleeping Giant’ outline. The Giant is composed of a combination of the natural topography of the mountain and unused limestone quarries.
