Gorebridge is a previous mining town in Midlothian, Scotland. The town obtains its name from the bridge throughout the River Gore, a tributary of the South Esk. It was the house of Scotland’s very first gunpowder mill, at the Gore Water, that began operating in 1794. Gorebridge has an annual Gala Day which always occurs on the third Saturday in June.
