Although its value as an aspect of garden design is often ignored, fencing is a vital part of both the appearance and usefulness of your garden. Garden fencing tends to differ between the front and rear of properties, with taller and more secure timber fencing commonly being used in the rear garden, while the front of the home often employs smaller and more attractive fencing. Fencing for the front of the home tends to have a low height and large spaces between the wooden slats. It is also often stained to enhance its ornamental effect. Fencing in the back garden is frequently used for privacy and to maintain the borders of a garden, as well as to keep domestic pets or other small animals or wildlife either in or out. Because of this, these styles of fences are roughly 6 feet high and use wooden slats without spaces in between. Due to the increased height, these fences typically have concrete footings laid between each panel to offer strength which will help prevent the fence from blowing over or being damaged in bad weather. Garden fencing sections are generally constructed from wood. The posts in between the sections are produced from either wood, stone, or concrete. Recently, fence panels have started to be manufactured from heavily recycled and sustainable composite materials such as recycled bamboo.

Halstead is a town and civil parish found in Braintree District of Essex in England. The town is in close proximity to Colchester and Sudbury, in the Colne Valley. According to the 2011 Census, Halstead has a permanent population of 11906. The town initially formed on the hill to the north of the river. The name Halstead is claimed to have stemmed from the Old English ‘hald’ (refuge, shelter, healthy) and ‘stede’ (site, place or farm), meaning ‘healthy farm’ ‘safe place’ or ‘place of sanctuary’. The historical core of Halstead can be seen on a walk up the market hill. There are numerous social, cultural and leisure options in Halstead. A river walk goes through the town from east to west, and just outside the town is Broaks Wood, a popular area for strolling owned by the Forestry Commission. Halstead Public Gardens were created in 1900 and is noted for its floral shows. Townsford Mill that stretches over the river at the bottom of the town houses the Antiques Centre, with thousands of fascinating pieces ranging from clothing to home objects. A historical society consistently holds month-to-month conferences, and a town museum connected to the town council offices features some historic artefacts and a range of objects confined to regional interest. The Empire Theatre in Butler Road hosts infrequent bingo nights. Halstead is also the home of Hume’s Bakery, which opened in 1960, and continues to trade at the same store.
