Patios remain a very common way of creating functional outdoor spaces that you can use for socialising, dining, or just to enhance the appeal of your garden. Patios are built from block or slab paving and can come in an enormous array of colours, patterns and designs. Patios can be laid in either random course patterns where the pattern is varied, or in repeating patterns that have a consistent effect. Patios are incredibly durable and require very little maintenance, only periodic cleaning to maintain the natural beauty of the stone. Patios are usually installed in locations where patio or French doors can open directly out onto them as this results in a smooth transition between the inside and outside spaces.
Patios come in a wide array of colours and types of stone. Consider adding a different colour and style of stone to either inlay a fashionable design or as edging to accentuate the shape of your patio. It is important to consider the use of your patio when designing it and measure accurately to ensure that any furniture fits the intended space. Specialist patio and paving companies will be able to design you a patio that perfectly satisfies your needs and creates an outdoor area that is practical as well as beautiful.

Get Aldgate pros
Aldgate is a district within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and partly the City of London. It was the eastern-most gateway by means of the London Wall leading from the City of London to Whitechapel along with the East End of London. It gave its name to a City ward bounded by White Kennet Street within the north and Crutched Friars towards the south.
The district’s name was 1st recorded in 1052 as ‘East gate’, but became Alegate by 1108. During the 16th century, John Stow derived the name from ‘Old Gate’. But Henry Harben, writing in 1918, said that this was incorrect and that documents show a different variation written prior to 1486-7. Other meanings include ‘Ale Gate’, linked to an ale-house or ‘All Gate’, meaning the gate was free to everybody.
It is thought that the gate at Aldgate spanned the road to Colchester in the Roman period, when London Wall was constructed. The gateway stood in the corner of the modern day Duke’s palace on the east side of the city. It was rebuilt in between 1108 and 1147, and once more in 1215. It was reconstructed totally between 1607 and 1609 in a more classical style. As the other London gates, Aldgate was chained in 1377 on account of concerns about attacks from the French. The gate was finally removed in 1761 and temporarily re-erected in Bethnal Green.
