Stump grinding refers to the procedure where the stump of a tree that has been felled is disposed of. Frequently after tree felling several inches of the trunk and the root structure are left in the soil, making the close-by area impractical to use together with possibly attracting insect pests or harbouring tree diseases such as honey fungus. If your back garden has stumps in the earth, having them cleared could open up the location, providing you with additional space which could be used to increase your lawn or create new areas to lay patio or decking. Expert stump grinding businesses can get rid of stumps of any scale. The operation usually requires slicing the stump as low to the ground as possible by using a chainsaw, and afterwards making use of specialised stump grinding machinery to grind away at the stump. Stumps are ground down to about 10-12 inches under the ground surface to enable planting, although sometimes landscaping projects may require the stump to be ground deeper than this. The wood chipping that is created by the stump grinding may be either infilled back into the hole and used as mulch in other areas of your garden, or the stump grinding company could remove it for you and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way. In addition, numerous professional stump grinding companies provide specialist small equipment that may be used if there is limited access to your garden for instance, via a side alley.

The London Borough of Havering is a London borough in East London, England and forms part of Outer London. The London Borough of Havering was established in 1965 by the combined former area of the Municipal Borough of Romford and Hornchurch Urban District which had been transferred to Greater London from Essex by the London Government Act 1963. The name Havering is a reference towards the Royal Liberty of Havering which occupied the location for many centuries. The local authority is Havering London Borough Council. The main town in Havering is Romford and the other primary communities are Hornchurch, Upminster and Rainham. Havering is bordered to the south by the London Borough of Bexley by the River Thames, towards the west by the London Borough of Redbridge and the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and to the north and east by Essex. The borough is primarily characterised by suburban development with big areas of protected open space. Havering covers an overall area of 43.35 square miles. There’s a high ratio of area per capita as large parts of Havering are parkland and 23 square miles (60 km2), which is over 50% of the borough, is Metropolitan Green Belt protected land. Those areas of development are substantial but rarely intensive. Romford’s urban centre is a significant metropolitan retail and night time entertainment centre and to the south the borough extends into the London Riverside redevelopment part of the Thames Gateway. Havering is served by the London Underground and there’s an extensive network of London Bus routes.
