While its importance as an element of garden design is often overlooked, fencing is an essential part of both the appearance and functionality of your garden. Garden fencing will differ between the front and rear of properties, with taller and more solid timber fencing typically being placed in the rear garden, while the front of the house often employs smaller and more ornamental fencing. Fencing for the front of the home tends to have a low height and large gaps between the wooden slats. Additionally, it is often stained to enhance its ornamental effect.
Fencing in the back garden is frequently used for privacy and to preserve the boundaries of a garden, as well as to keep domestic pets or other small animals or wildlife either in or out. Because of this, these types of fences are around 6 feet high and use wooden slats without spaces in between. Due to the extra height, these fences typically have concrete footings laid in between each section to offer security and stop the fence from blowing over or being destroyed in high winds.
Garden fencing panels are generally constructed from wood. The posts in between the panels are made from either timber, stone, or concrete. Recently, fence panels have started to be constructed from heavily recycled and environmentally friendly composite materials such as recycled bamboo.

Muir of Ord is a village in the Highlands of Scotland. It is situated near the western limit of the Black Isle, regarding 9 miles (14 km) west of the city of Inverness and 5 1/2 miles (9 kilometres) south of Dingwall. The village has a population of 2,690 and also sits 35 metres (115 feet) above water level. Called Tarradale until 1862, traditionally accessibility to the town was restricted by the natural challenges of the River Beauly as well as the River Conon. This changed in 1814 with the building of the Conon Bridge. Livestock chauffeurs made use of the new routes to transfer animals as well as markets were established in 1820 near where the village now exists. In 1835 whisky distilling operations were legally granted in the town as well as by 1885 the Mill of Ord produced 80,000 imperial gallons (360,000 l) annually. The village expanded thoroughly in the 19th century as a result of the establishment of the distillery as well as products sectors.
