While its significance as an element of garden design is sometimes ignored, fencing is a vital part of both the appearance and practicality of your garden. Garden fencing will differ between the front and rear of properties, with higher and more secure wood fencing frequently being used in the rear garden, while the front of the property often employs more compact and more decorative fencing. Fencing for the front of the home tends to have a low height and large spaces between the wooden slats. Additionally, it is often coloured to improve its ornamental effect. Fencing in the back garden is often used for privacy and to maintain the borders of a garden, as well as to keep domestic pets or other small animals or wildlife either in or out. Due to this, these styles of fences are about 6 feet high and use wooden slats without spaces in between. Due to the increased height, these fences usually have concrete footings laid between each section to offer security and prevent the fence from blowing over or being ruined in poor weather. Garden fencing panels are generally made of wood. The posts in between the sections are produced from either timber, stone, or concrete. Recently, fence panels have started to be constructed from heavily recycled and eco friendly composite materials such as recycled bamboo.

The London Borough of Hounslow is a London borough in west London, England, forming a part of Outer London. The borough was established in 1965, under the London Government Act 1963, by the merger of the area of the former Brentford and Chiswick Urban District, Feltham Urban District as well as the Heston and Isleworth Urban District of Middlesex. It borders the boroughs of Richmond upon Thames, Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing and Hillingdon, along with the Surrey borough of Spelthorne. The local authority is Hounslow London Borough Council. Hounslow grew quickly in the latter half of the twentieth century on account of other travel, a connection to the largest of London’s airports since the 1940s, Heathrow Airport which is in the Hounslow post town. The Great West Road, which crosses the borough from Chiswick to Heathrow, once served nationally and globally famous manufacturers such as Firestone, Gillette and Coty. As a result, the area became generally known as the ‘Golden Mile’. Some of these factory sites remain, for example Gillette Corner, and the Great West Road is still residence to lots of prestigious names, providing them with quick non-motorway access between Slough, London Heathrow Airport and Central London. Other notable landmarks consist of Osterley Park, Gunnersbury Park, Syon House, the London Museum of Water and Steam, and Chiswick House.
